Zuriaake are going from strength to strength in their musical output. This EP is an immensely satisfying evolution of their sound which blends more traditional extreme metal influences with traditional Chinese music and atmospheric keyboards.
A "hooded" one from China! Zuriaake offers an evocative, well played & produced EP of atmos black metal which is somehow better and more "genuine" than Batushka. Maybe track (2) is my favourite.
Favorite track: 荒坟 | Forlorn Tomb.

This is a really splendid album. Of course the twenty minute long 夢邀 (广寒 / 仙游 / 南柯) is just so outstanding that nothing really compares with its meandering in and out of melancholy and back to total distress. Some of the other tracks are really excellent but this album is worth buying just for 夢邀 (广寒 / 仙游 / 南柯). Andy

Bandcamp has been a Pandora’s box for discovering and unearthing new acts. Zuriaake is no exception. This has been on repeat since purchasing it last night. Some might find it strange or odd, but hearing this brand of music coming out of China is that much more special for me, and this act clearly has a full grasp of what it should be, what it should sound like, and what it means for them in return.
At times it reminds me of a more stripped down version of Summoning (Lugburg era) and in no way is that an insult to either group. Truly, this is one of the best albums that I have had the pleasure of coming across here on Bandcamp. To shorten up my impression, it’s wall to wall praise for anyone who wishes to submerse themselves with an album that delivers a great atmosphere and experience for the listener. Cheers! Rick Barrios
A corrosive mix of death, doom, psychedelia, and black metal, the Portland quartet’s debut full-length is a bona fide underground monolith that shapeshifts with each listen, all while maintaining its essential heaviness. Bandcamp Album of the Day Feb 1, 2019
